Katana

One of few swords to have a surviving weapon manuscript, the katana is a single edged, tempered steel curved sword that is considerably light compared to the western long sword.

Kusarigama

A unique weapon developed in the Sengoku period of Japan, which uses a kama, or sickle that was originally used for cropping, that is attached to a metal weight by a chain.

Naginata

A spear or glaive like weapon known to be used by the Sohei, a group of Buddhist warrior monks, who were spread across Japan, but mainly resided in mountain temples and acted as paid mercenaries for various groups.

Sai

Mainly known to be from Okinawa, this weapon was once used by their police force as it is a blunt tool like a baton but unlike the traditional baton it was used in akimbo and was effective in disarming opponents.
